Shop news & make-ahead meals
Thursday, January 17th, 2008I’m starting to think that a proper shop update isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Every time I think I’m going to have some sewing time available I get another custom order, which I feel obliged to fulfill. It doesn’t bother me so much — since I’m still working and all, but I know that some buyers get annoyed when there’s nothing in stock. Even so, there’s not going to be a whole lot of time for sewing and crafty things with this heavy semester I’ve got ahead of me. Well I can only do so much.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of investment cooking (or make-ahead meals). It sounds like it would really be a worthwhile venture since Aaron and I don’t really have any time at home together except the weekend. There’s just so much to do and only so much that can get done. Between housework, schoolwork, taking care of King Sulli work, and the stitchery, stuff I love — like cooking and eating, gets pushed aside and we’re often left scrambling for something to do for dinner. I’m rather ashamed to admit this, but our “dining out” budget is as big as our “grocery budget”. That’s really wasteful, I know. Especially considering that there’s no good locally owned places to eat a healthy vegetarian dinner so we end up at chain restaurants and it’s still unhealthy!
It’s so hard to get your house and life organized when you’ve been living in fall-out shelter mode for so long! I feel really overwhelmed when I think about everything I have to do in a day — and then nothing gets done anyway! It’s very frustrating and something has got to give.
