I want everything

Unless you’re a super crunchy ultra hippie momma like me, you might not understand the joy joy JOY of a dozen brand new diapers scheduled to arrive in the next two days. The only other time we bought new dipes was before he was born… the one time we sized up I bought used. I mean, it was okay, but new diapers are like new cars… new cars that are made in the USA!

Mom's birthday

My mother’s birthday was yesterday and we had a visit on Saturday. She wanted a carrot cake, so after searching the internet I settled upon this recipe and followed it exactly. Holy crap! That was the best damn carrot cake — and quite possibly the best cake I’ve ever made or ate in my entire life! I urge you, go bake that cake and follow that recipe! You are not smarter than this carrot cake, I promise! Use all 1.5 cups of oil! Life is short! I iced it with Elise’s cream cheese frosting recipe. Oh man. I’m a huge huge fan of Wilton’s buttercream recipe and I bake a lot of cakes, but this cake was it. It was just it. The end of cake.

The garden is dug out but not planted yet. I didn’t see any frost on the ground this morning so maybe later this week (I’ll keep checking). I haven’t gotten my herb seeds yet, which really makes me angry, because the place I’ve ordered from is not answering my emails and only just charged my credit card (though I ordered a week ago!). Grrr. If you’re going to do business on the internet, at least do it right!

The kombucha is… finished, but I’m going to have to get used to it. It was really dry after 8 days — very sour. I strained out the scobys and added some juice and let it ferment over night. It’s better, but still pretty sour.

I haven’t gotten a chance to sew at all. I’ve only turned on my serger once. This makes me really unhappy. There’s just not enough time in a day/week/end for everything. I want everything.
